Brandson Brynhildr yoga pants [giveaway]

Attention, ladies - fall weather is coming, which means it won't be too hot for yoga anymore. Brandson will be launching at the end of September and I get the feeling the yoga pants will be a great seller.

Yes, the site is in Icelandic, but a U.S. site should be launching as well. Fear not, English speakers!

Brandson is a new clothing design company, making beautiful designs deriving from old ideas and turning them into something fresh.

I discovered Brandson thanks to coming across a giveaway of their own (it ends 9/16) and we talked about partnering together. I also knew my wife would love to try the pants.

Have you ever come across comfortable, flexible yoga pants? Sure. But what about with high quality fabric? Brandson offers high quality yoga pants at a reasonable price because they want to grab our hearts and not our money. That's a great mission.

This is what my wife had to say about the pants:

  • Beautiful (first word after opening the package)
  • Really durable and made very well
  • Material is soft and comfy
  • Form-fitting and true to size
brandson.is/products/brynhildr-aefingabuxur

Brandson's yoga pants are nylon spandex, a high quality fabric that gives your skin a cool feeling and comfort. With a fold over waistband you to choose a low- or high-rise style. Wear the pants in yoga classes, to work out, or just at home.

These are Icelandic-designed yoga pants named after the Valkyrie Brynhildr, which was the mother of Aslaug Ragnar Lothbrok's second wife. If you're like me and have no clue about Brynhildr, Brynhildr is a shield maiden and Valkyrie in Germanic mythology.

Brandson's skills and proficiency in designing, sewing, and stitching have helped them gain name in the market. They aim to bring pleasure and comfort to our lives. Feel the difference with this new product!

So who wants some yoga pants?! The folks at Brandson have been gracious enough to offer up a pair of Brynhildr yoga pants to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Southern Standard golfwear [review]

Founded by four members, Southern Standard is a southern-inspired lifestyle brand driven by authenticity and deep-rooted values. I stumbled upon these guys on Twitter and their flag-like logo was what caught my eye.

Why the flag? The brand vision was driven by the love of our country and passion for the south. The logo incorporates 3 things:

  • A patriotic-themed flag that conveys American roots.
  • Two S's inside the flag representing Southern Standard.
  • An anchor in the flag identifying the south as the anchor of the U.S.

Southern Standard white mesh hat atop my head.

Southern Standard is an authentic lifestyle brand spreading American pride and their mission is to set the standard with their classic, refined apparel line. Their crew has a passion for entrepreneurship and living the American dream. With different ambitions and influences, everyone is unified by the passion for inspiring others with branded apparel.

Now, going back to the logo and hat... Southern Standard has New Era as their head wear resource, and you can't go wrong with that choice. The mesh hat that I have is adjustable and made with mesh panels for ventilation and a contrast front. I like wearing this golfing since it's lightweight and is breathable thanks to the mesh.

As a tall guy (6'5") sometimes I have trouble finding shirts that fit well, but I don't have this problem with Southern Standard! Their shirts - including polos, which I'm a sucker for - come in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors.

I have the white polo shirt (goes nicely with my hat), which combines a cotton feel and smooth Rapid Dry moisture-wicking mesh. With subtle texture and breathable performance, this polo is very comfortable.

Wear it to the office or to the golf course - gotta have light colors when you're playing under the sun.

Not me, but a guy clearly enjoying his shirt.

All natural soap from Day Dream Soaps [giveaway]

My wife likes to reminisce about bars of soap she got from a farmer's market in the pure state of Michigan. Well, we're back on the Midwestern soap train again!

Day Dream Soaps is run by Krystal and her family in Michigan, and she's always been interested in pure and natural things. She started creating products for her family like lip balm, body butter, and even beard oil. What does beard oil do? I have no idea.

Krystal has two granddaughters, one of which has sensitive skin and many allergies. As a result, her granddaughter has had reactions to store bought items, including soap. I know the feeling very well being fair-skinned and all.

Most importantly, Krystal loves her job and creating each soap. She listens to customers and the number one request is, do you have something for dry, sensitive skin? This issue is addressed with most of the soaps in the shop. Most of the soaps are cold process, hot process soaps made as well.

etsy.com/shop/DayDreamSoaps

Pictured above is the soap for sensitive skin, a great bar of soap for sensitive, dry, irritated skin. It's made with calendula tea, calendula-infused olive oil and aloe juice, and colloidal oatmeal to sooth your skin. It also has olive oil, coconut oil, and shea butter which are great for sensitive or dry skin. It has a bubbly, creamy, conditioning lather.

This bar lacks artificial coloring and fragrance (otherwise it wouldn't be suitable to us sensitive folks), but it does contain essential oils of lavender, orange, and patchouli. As you can see, the color is a natural light yellow from the calendula petals. If you ask me, it kinda looks like cheese.

etsy.com/shop/DayDreamSoaps

You can get the most out of your handmade soap by treating it with care. Don't leave it sitting in water, and instead place it in a dish or on a ledge. Even just sitting on the sink works, but how 'bout a soap dish? I'm gonna buy one after I publish this post!

So who wants to win something?! Day Dream Soaps and I are offering a $10 Amazon gift card and one bar of sensitive skin soap to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Umholtz Plumbing and Heating [review]

One of the easiest and smoothest service jobs I've dealt with. I was able to request a quote via Yelp without needing to call or go to the Umholtz website (not that I wouldn't, but Yelp made it convenient).

If you need a plumber in Massachusetts, look no further than Umholtz!

uphmetrowest.com

Mike was responsive to my messages and asked me to email him a photo of the broken water valve I needed to be replaced. Once I did that, he gave me an estimate and was at my house later that week.

Mike was polite and knew what he was doing when I showed him the broken valve that my washing machine was hooked up to. He replaced that and also went above and beyond - I had a new washer that wasn't installed yet, and he hooked that up, saving me the trouble and probably a lot of time too since I'm obviously not a plumber.

No doubt Mike & Umholtz will be the first place I turn when I have another issue.

Vivid Landscapes greeting cards [review]

There are plenty of holidays coming up, so be prepared and grab some greeting cards from Vivid Landscapes.

Vivid Landscapes is an Etsy shop run by Jeanette, a mother of nine children and 20 grand children. That's a lot of kids! An artist all her life, she decided to try colored pencils because they're easy to pick up and put down. Working with them helped take her mind off my troubles and find peace.

Jeanette paints in oils, colored pencil, acrylics, and alcohol inks on tiles. She also does a lot of colored pencil cards, and makes prints of them - a couple of my favorites are shown below!

etsy.com/shop/VividLandscapes

The card above is the depiction of a little fishing spot at the side of a mountain rod where Jeanette's son-in-law took her on a summer day. It actually reminds me of a river spot in a neighborhood I used to live in. Flowing water and lots of green foliage and trees.

As you can probably tell, Jeanette loves the outdoors with its changing seasons, light, and shadows, as well as the peace of being in nature. She's learned she doesn't need to take long trips to find beauty - it's close at home. The Millard county skies in Utah are an asset in the desert country. If we take the time to look around us, chances are we'll find beauty close to home too.

etsy.com/shop/VividLandscapes

With the order of a card you'll receive a print on folded card stock with a white envelope. And they're a nice size too - a bit larger than 5" x 8". And they're blank so you can write whatever you want. Whether it's for a loved one or a friend, these cards will bring peace and joy.

In addition to the usual Vivid Landscapes art, custom work is accepted and encouraged. Feel free to contact Jeanette if you have a scene, place, person, or animal that you would like her to draw.

Get a good night's sleep with Mediflow's gel foam pillow [giveaway]

Last year I posted a Mediflow review and giveaway, and now we're back with another pillow to give away!

Our neck and heads deserve support and comfort. After all, we spend a third of our life in bed so we might as well pamper ourselves.

Chances are your pillow has lost its shape and needs to be replaced. I had the pleasure of trying the gel foam waterbase pillow, clinically shown to improve the quality of your sleep. Mediflow helps you sleep unlike any other pillow on the market.

Water in a pillow? That's an unusual thing. The Mediflow pillow is cool gel infused and ventilated to allow air to circulate completely through the foam cushion and away from the head for extra comfort.

The bottom foam layer is made of firm foam springs that provide proper support for a neutral spine position. If you need a pillow for neck pain, the pillow has been clinically shown to reduce tossing and turning.

You can easily add water to the bladder and adjust the support level to get the comfort level that's right for you. It's pretty cool, and does not have the sloshing effect that a waterbed does thankfully. Whether you prefer soft, medium, or firm comfort, you can customize it to your liking.

Other features:
  • Cool gel foam top layer
  • Ventilated to stay cool all night long
  • Special foam spring center to maintain support
  • Adjustable water base provides adjustability to any level of support

So who wants a pillow?! The folks at Mediflow have been gracious enough to offer up a gel foam waterbase pillow ($70 value) to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Moeggenborg Sugar Bush goat milk soap [giveaway]

Awhile back my wife got a couple bars of homemade soap from a farmer's market in the pure state of Michigan, and now we're jumping back on the Midwestern natural soap train.

Moeggenborg Sugar Bush is run by Mary and her family "in the country" in Michigan, offering a variety of unique gifts. Together they make soap (of course), candles, and personalized Christmas stockings. If you like treats, they also make fudge, dip mixes, and baked goods.

Moeggenborg Sugar Bush is a farm family who enjoys working together to make quality products that reflect a simpler time. The term “sugar bush” is because they're an operating sugar bush. This means they tap trees and boil sap during late winter. I have a couple big maple trees that we tap as well, and I can say this - fresh syrup beats the store stuff.

etsy.com/shop/MoeggenborgSugarBush

There are a variety of different soaps - some that are easy on the skin, and others that are more exfoliating. Goat's milk is wonderful for soap and you'll find it's a common base ingredient. It's soothing to the skin and adds to a good lather. Lots of scents and choices!

Pictured above is the lavender soap, a tranquil combination of fresh herbs and cool camphor with top notes of Italian bergamot, eucalyptus leaves, citrus zest, and French lavender. Cool, huh? Almost looks like slices of purple cake! Don't eat it though. It smells great and my wife likes to use the bar at the sink before going to bed with the calming senses.

This particular soap is made with real goat milk and lavender, as well as the following:
  • distilled water
  • sodium hydroxide
  • coconut
  • palm
  • soybean
  • avocado
  • olive
  • sweet almond castor
  • cocoa butter
  • fragrance oil

I also have the natural oatmeal soap, shown below, which is formulated especially for folks with sensitive skin like myself. It's an unscented, all-natural soap. No colorants or fragrance oil, so it's pretty safe.

etsy.com/shop/MoeggenborgSugarBush

You can get the most out of your handmade soap by treating it with care. Don't leave it sitting in water, and instead place it in a dish or on a ledge. Even just sitting on the sink works. Keeping it fresh and allowing it to let water roll away will help the lifespan.

So who wants some soap?! Moeggenborg Sugar Bush is graciously offering two (2) bars of goat milk soap - one lavender and one natural oatmeal - to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Pretty & Practical Soaps and Gifts [giveaway]

A year or two ago my wife got a couple bars of homemade soap from a farmer's market and now we're jumping back on the natural soap train. Typically I use Dove, but it's good to try new stuff and mix things up.

Pretty & Practical is run by Mary-Ann, a full-time working mom and admitted tree hugger. I do a lot of tree hugging on the blog here, so her products fit right in. Mary-Ann comes from a small town in New England (like myself) and she's always had a love of art, nature, and creating.

Pretty & Practical started as a hobby, then a 'keep in the habit' sale, and then it took off. Mary-Ann started stepping up production and planning for fairs, and now she's on Etsy offering her creations to you!

etsy.com/shop/PrettyPracticalSoaps

All soaps are made in small batches, which make some of them limited time offers due to the artistic difference of each batch.

And since everyone's skin is different obviously, there are a variety of different soaps from gentle to exfoliating. There's something for everyone. Lots of scents and choices!

Pictured above is the honey oatmeal soap, formulated to be a gentler cleanser and scented with a wonderful blend of oatmeal honey and milk fragrance. Cool, huh? Looks so good you could eat it! Don't eat it though. It smells great, has a nice creamy lather, and my wife likes to use the bar at the sink. Plus it's better than the boring hand soap pump things.

If you're curious about the ingredients like I was, this particular soap is made with real honey and oatmeal, as well as the following:
  • olive oil
  • palm oil
  • coconut oil
  • grape seed oil
  • cocoa butter
  • castor oil
  • fragrance

Pretty & Practical's handmade soaps are special, so to get the most out of 'em they should be treated with care. Don't leave them sitting in water, and instead place them in a dish or on a ledge. Keeping it fresh and allowing it to let water roll away will help the lifespan.

Who wants to win something?! Pretty & Practical is graciously offering a bar of honey oatmeal soap AND a knitted cotton washcloth to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Spartan Fit is a New York Times Best Seller

A couple weeks ago I posted my Spartan Fit book review. It's Joe DeSena's second book, a 30-day training program designed to build mental and physical toughness.

And Spartan Fit is now on the New York Times Best Seller list! You can grab the book here.

Joe tells us, "The purpose of this book is to help you overcome any physical or mental obstacle — and to achieve the opportunity that lives inside of you. To become Spartan Fit."

Following the 30-day program is good for anyone that's at a beginner or intermediate level. It's to get you ready to do a Spartan obstacle course, which kicked my butt the last time I did it, but I'll be returning to conquer again.

Joe also gives you workouts to do that don't involve the gym or any weights. Outside is where we belong! So go climb a mountain. Run in the rain. Do yard work even.

Vera Wang Princess fragrance [giveaway]

Awhile back I gave away a bottle of Nautica cologne for the guys, and now I'm going to do something for the ladies.

The Nautica giveaway had such a great turnout that it makes sense to do another one - this time for Princess by Vera Wang. This fragrance is marketed to young women but there are many reviews that say it's great for all ages.

Princess opens with notes of water lily and mandarin meringue. Mid notes of pink guava and Tahitian flower. Base notes of pink frosting and chiffon vanilla.

There are several factors which can affect the natural smell of your skin and the way a scent smells on you. Similarly, factors such as dry or oily skin can even affect how long the perfume's fragrance will last.

Now... who wants some perfume?! I've got a 3.4-ounce bottle of Princess by Vera Wang up for grabs for one lucky Giveaway Guy reader anywhere in the world.

Amazon gift card & shirts from TallSlim Tees [giveaway]

Catch my TallSlim Tees review a couple weeks ago? We're back with a giveaway!

This is a brand I like, and if you're tall then you might too. It makes me happy that I can browse everything they carry and know that something will fit just right. The shirts come in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors for men 6'0" to 7'0." Sorry, ladies, nothing for you yet.

TallSlim Tees was founded in 2014 by Dan Deceuster after years of frustration with t-shirt sizes (much like the frustration of my own), and designed a custom t-shirt specifically for tall, lean men like myself.

Check out their first video:

One of the shirts I have is the tall v-neck in royal blue, the original and top-selling v-neck t-shirt made from a 50/50 cotton polyester blend. It's soft, lightweight, and fits like a dream.

Don't forget to check the sizing:

  • Small will fit guys anywhere from 6'0" and 130 lbs. to 6'4" and 150 lbs.
  • Medium will fit guys anywhere from 6'2" and 150 lbs. to 6'6" and 200 lbs.
  • Large is for guys who are 6'4" to 6'8" and 200 lbs. to 250 lbs.
  • X-large has you covered if you are 6'8" to 7'0" and 250 lbs. to 300 lbs.

This v-neck is designed specifically for slim & tall men looking for a tailored fit. It kinda hugs your figure so don't be shy now.

Typically I'm an XL shirt, but a L fits perfect.

Another shirt I'd like to mention is the tall pique polo. Wear it to the office or to the golf course - gotta have light colors when you're playing under the sun. It's a comfortable polo shirt and made from durable fabric - 65% cotton and 35% polyester. It's strong, yet flexible with the same great fit you'd expect from the other TallSlim Tees.

Browse around the shop and you're bound to find something you like. Oh, and 2-day USPS Priority shipping in the U.S. is FREE! There's no catch. Shipping is free and I might add a couple more shirts to my collection.

As promised, TallSlim Tees and I have partnered up to give away a few things:
  • One reader will win three shirts in size medium (v-neck, polo, and dry-lite).
  • A second reader will win a $10 Amazon gift card.

Pique Tea crystals & double wall glass [giveaway]

Catch my Pique Tea review recently? We're back with a giveaway!

Pique Tea is a cross between ancient tradition and modern science, a proprietary process that slow brews whole leaf tea, extracting flavor and nutrients, locking it in a crystal form. Pique also offers tea ware that is functional and contemporary, like the canteen below.

The tea crystals are packaged into little single-serving packs, perfect for a cup of tea wherever you are. And you can enjoy the crystals with hot or cold water. Just open up the pack, dump the crystals in your cup, and add water.

There are five varieties of black and green teas - Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Jasmine, Mint Sencha, and Sencha. No preservatives, artificial flavors, or sugar. It's all natural!

My wife really likes Earl Grey, and since she's always rushing in and out of the house, taking crystals on the go is convenient. Here's what Pique has to say about their tea's origin:

Our delicious Earl Grey is made from the finest Organic and Fair Trade certified leaves from the world-renowned Idulgashinna Estate in the Uva region in eastern Sri Lanka. A really special area, at 3,300-6,500 feet in elevation, the Uva region receives tons of rain in winter very strong, dry winds in late summer. This garden produces a very smooth cup with light fruity hints and delicate pungency. The finish is long and clean, with a hint of fresh-cut pine and a nice accent of orange zest.

And what's tea if you don't have a vessel to drink it from? The signature Pique cup is a double wall glass that helps keep your tea warm and looks cool too. Wouldn't a set of these be sweet? They're also dishwasher safe.

So who wants some tea?! The folks at Pique have been gracious enough to offer two (2) cartons of tea crystals (your choice) and the signature double wall glass to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Enter to win using the Rafflecopter form below. You may share on Twitter once a day for extra points for the duration of the giveaway.

Spartan Fit book review

Awhile back I read Spartan Up!, Joe De Sena's first book, and it really got me motivated. It's one of those books you can pick up, open to any page, and start reading. No matter where I left off, I could pick it up and get motivated to get my butt in gear. That's not easy to do because I like being lazy!

Spartan Fit is Joe's second book and it's more tailored to a 30-day training program, although he talks a lot about mental toughness which is important.

Joe tells us, "The purpose of this book is to help you overcome any physical or mental obstacle — and to achieve the opportunity that lives inside of you. To become Spartan Fit."

If you don't want to get shape, then you're not going to enjoy this book. You need to muster up the motivation and convince yourself to take action, even if it's working out a little bit at a time (like I do and what my wife teases me about). Getting in shape takes time and it's OK to start off slow.

Following the 30-day program is good for anyone that's at a beginner or intermediate level. It's to get you ready to do a Spartan obstacle course, which kicked my butt the last time I did it, but I'll be returning to conquer again.

If you're a professional athlete you're probably not reading this right now.

Joe also gives you workouts to do that don't involve the gym or any weights. Outside is where we belong! So go climb a mountain. Run in the rain. Do yard work even.

If this book and a training plan is too much for you right now, Spartan Race also has a summer training guide that's FREE to check out and download on their site. Pick out stuff you like and learn the proper form for exercises. And then go from there.

Alpaca socks from Kave Rock Farm [giveaway]

Bet you've never considered buying stuff made of alpaca fiber. Alpacas (not to be confused with llamas) are native to South America and their precious fleece used to be worn by royalty.

My new royal friends at Kave Rock Farm live in my home state of Massachusetts, located down in Rehoboth. A few years ago they decided to raise alpacas along with their goats and chickens.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners a few weeks ago when they brought four alpacas to a birthday gathering before a Phish show (alpacas and Phish, what a combination). One of the things they showed us was how soft the hair/fiber is, and they have some cool alpaca fiber products to buy on their site.

Alpaca survival socks

To date there are 21 animals on Kave Rock Farm, and the herd is growing with two crias (baby alpacas) due later this fall. I had to look up what a cria was. Turns out, alpaca pregnancies can last 12-14 months and usually result in a single cria. Twins are rare with approximately 1 in 1000 odds, which is slightly rarer than the odds of human twins.

Did you know there are more than 20 natural shades of their fiber? It's soft like cashmere and stronger than wool. Soft and strong is not very common. It's unique in that it's extremely light, yet retains the ability to keep you (and the alpacas) very warm.

Just a selfie with the alpacas. As you might notice, they've been sheared for the summer.

Kave Rock Farm also works with the New England Alpaca Fiber Pool (NEAFP) to process their fiber into quality products that we can wear!

The Survival Socks are mid-weight and designed for a wide range of outdoor activities and climates. The soft alpaca terry loops are combined with a durable nylon outer shell. With a proper fit every time, this warm and comfortable sock is their best selling style across the country. The socks are hypoallergenic, do not contain dye, and resist odor (important for feet!).

Check out the store for other hats, scarves, gloves, and accessories. And when you're in Massachusetts, they'd love to have you visit the farm. I plan to head down there this summer while the weather's nice.

So who wants a pair of socks?! My friends at Kave Rock Farm have been gracious enough to offer a pair of crew-style alpaca survival socks to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Water Quality Month & Brita giveaway

August is National Water Quality Month and we should all take a long, hard look at what we're doing to protect our water supply.

Do you have a water pitcher in your fridge? What about a pitcher with a filter?

I've got a brand new Brita pitcher & filter, one of the best-selling filter pitchers on Amazon, and I'm going to give it away to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader. The filter reduces chlorine taste & odor (for better taste), and removes copper, mercury, and cadmium (to fight illness).

The giveaway is available to everyone worldwide because we all need quality water.

Here are just a few tips to help us remember to take care of our water sources:
  • Don't use antibacterial soaps or cleaning products
  • Don't flush medications down the toilet or drain
  • Don't put anything but water down storm drains

I also have a bunch of other giveaways going on, so check 'em out if you haven't already! They're also listed on the right side of my blog.

Enter to win using the Rafflecopter form below. You may share on Twitter once a day for extra points for the duration of the giveaway.

Under Armour Match Play Golf Pants - Straight Leg [review]

I wear a men's 36x36 and these golf pants fit like a dream. They're my new favorite pants! These babies have a long, slim-straight look, so they're kind of tailored to fit men who are more lean. If you're built like John Daly, forget it.

Now, in the pictures the pants look a bit stiff, but they are not. They're actually very, very lightweight and a bit stretchy too. Great for cool weather golf, but I wear 'em to the office as well. Lightweight, breathable, and dare I compare to what Ned Flanders said, "Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all."

  • 100% Polyester
  • Moisture Transport System wicks sweat & dries fast
  • Stretch-engineered waistband for superior mobility & insane comfort
  • Flat-front, 4-pocket design

The slate color is a light gray and you can match it with any color shirt really. I'm considering buying a second pair in another color since I like these Under Armour pants so much.
