Pretty & Practical Soaps and Gifts [giveaway]

A year or two ago my wife got a couple bars of homemade soap from a farmer's market and now we're jumping back on the natural soap train. Typically I use Dove, but it's good to try new stuff and mix things up.

Pretty & Practical is run by Mary-Ann, a full-time working mom and admitted tree hugger. I do a lot of tree hugging on the blog here, so her products fit right in. Mary-Ann comes from a small town in New England (like myself) and she's always had a love of art, nature, and creating.

Pretty & Practical started as a hobby, then a 'keep in the habit' sale, and then it took off. Mary-Ann started stepping up production and planning for fairs, and now she's on Etsy offering her creations to you!

All soaps are made in small batches, which make some of them limited time offers due to the artistic difference of each batch.

And since everyone's skin is different obviously, there are a variety of different soaps from gentle to exfoliating. There's something for everyone. Lots of scents and choices!

Pictured above is the honey oatmeal soap, formulated to be a gentler cleanser and scented with a wonderful blend of oatmeal honey and milk fragrance. Cool, huh? Looks so good you could eat it! Don't eat it though. It smells great, has a nice creamy lather, and my wife likes to use the bar at the sink. Plus it's better than the boring hand soap pump things.

If you're curious about the ingredients like I was, this particular soap is made with real honey and oatmeal, as well as the following:
  • olive oil
  • palm oil
  • coconut oil
  • grape seed oil
  • cocoa butter
  • castor oil
  • fragrance

Pretty & Practical's handmade soaps are special, so to get the most out of 'em they should be treated with care. Don't leave them sitting in water, and instead place them in a dish or on a ledge. Keeping it fresh and allowing it to let water roll away will help the lifespan.

  18. I am charmed by the hand made wash cloths. I like the Blue & Green one though they don't seem to have any way that you can pick the color - which is odd.
