Barnes & Noble gift card and romance author Ashlyn Chase

Is there a grand design or do we decide our own fates?

Ashlyn Chase was a registered nurse for 20 years and wrote articles for professional journals and a thesis, and eventually discovered the joy and freedom of writing fiction.

Ashlyn studies people. She doesn't have to write out exhaustive character sketches to understand her characters or predict how they'll behave. Sometimes they take her on grand unexpected journeys.

Ashlyn has learned to go with the flow. To enjoy the journey is not only one of her writing goals, but also a life challenge. I should take a page out of her book so to speak and learn to go with the flow. Too often I get hung up on things.

Ashlyn tries to follow where the story takes her. Her identified theme involves characters who reinvent themselves. And why not? She has reinvented herself numerous times - from artist, to nurse, to hypnotherapist, and to author.

At last, she's all settled down and comfy in New England, just like I have.

Now that you've probably scroll past those Heaving Bosoms, let's take a peek at Ashlyn's latest release, Hooked on a Phoenix. Locked in a bank vault together, characters Misty and Gabe might redefine the meaning of sex.

Misty Carlisle works as a bank teller in Boston's financial district. She's had more rotten luck in her life than most, except when her childhood crush shows up to cash his paycheck.

Then her heart races and her mouth goes dry.

Gabe Fierro is a firefighter—and a phoenix. Like his brothers, his biggest challenge is finding a woman open-minded enough to accept a shapeshifter into her life. When his boyhood friend asks him to watch over his little sister Misty, he reluctantly agrees.

But when the bank where she works gets held up, Gabe does everything he can to protect her. The two of them end up locked in the bank's vault... where things get steamier than either of them ever imagined.

In the great tradition, the Fall in Love with New England conference was started as a grassroots endeavor. It's not part of any big organization or magazine, agency, or publisher. Folks at the conference are simply romance authors who want to have fun with readers!

Ashlyn established the basics back in 2016, and many authors have contributed countless hours and ideas to make each new conference more superb than one one before it. Have fun and make new friends along the way!

So who wants the chance to win a prize?

In celebration of her new release, Hooked on a Phoenix, Ashlyn Chase is going to give away a $10 Barnes & Noble gift card to TWO (2) lucky Giveaway Guy readers!
