Amazon gift card and Celtic romance author Mia Pride

She will not be tamed...

Mia Pride is a full-time wife and mother of two rowdy boys, residing in the San Francisco bay area. As a child, she wrote stories about fantastic places or magical things, always preferring to live in a world where the line between reality and fantasy didn’t exist.

In high school, Mia entered writing contests and had some stories published in small newspapers or school magazines. As life continued, so did her love of writing. One day, she decided to end her cake decorating business, pull out her laptop, and fulfill her dream of writing and publishing novels.

And she did.

The Warrior's Salvation is the first book in the Celtic romance Warriors of Eriu series.

Jeoffrey has had enough of women. When his intended wife Clarice ran off with his cousin, he was left to pick up the pieces of his shattered heart. Now years later, after fighting a long war and finally earning a new start to life, all he wants is a little farm and his solitude. But when the one woman he never expected, or wanted, to ever see again suddenly shows up battered and carrying a small child in her arms, Jeoffrey has no choice but to take her into his home. But as soon as Clarice is healed, Jeoffrey is determined to be rid of them both. Forever.

Faced with a forced marriage to an abusive man, Clarice flees to save her and her son’s lives. When she finally arrives at a new village, desperate for help, Jeoffrey is the last man she ever thought to find there. Injuries have left her helpless and reliant upon Jeoffrey’s goodwill. If only he did not despise her. Clarice never expected to see Jeoffrey again and, though her heart never forgot him, he wishes to forget her.

All Jeoffrey wants is his freedom. All Clarice wants is a second chance. Will Clarice’s sudden arrival unravel all of Jeoffrey’s carefully laid plans for a life of solitude? Or will she turn out to be his only salvation?

Still curious about the author? Time for an interview with Mia...

What inspires you to write?
Honestly, people and interactions. I love to just watch people and wonder what they are thinking or what is going on in their life. Some of my best inspirations come from those musings. I can take a photo or a moment in someone’s life and map out an entire story, filling it with drama and of course, lots of laughter and love. As a romance writer, everyone gets their happily ever after, even if they do not in real life. After all, is that not why we read? To escape and seek out an alternate reality where things feel different and special. That’s where my ideas come from. The motto on my blog and website is: Every human interaction is a story waiting to be written. I truly feel that to be the case.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
On average, if I am writing during a time period I am already very comfortable with, such as ancient Irish or Scottish, I can map out a story and have it written, including research time, in about a month if I stick to my word count goals based on the average length of my novels. If I am writing about a new time period or require extra research, it may take a few extra weeks. However, that is just to have a rough manuscript. Then the many rounds of editing begin. Overall, from beginning to end, I try to get a book out about every three months, keeping a goal of four books per year. I am doing very well on that goal this year and on track to have about six books release in 2018. However, two of them were already partially written.

What are you working on right now?
Currently, I am working on the fourth book in my Warriors of Ériu series, “The Warrior’s Reunion”. It is another Irish/Scottish historical romance and I am so excited to hopefully have it out by Summer of 2018. I had meant for this book to be the final book of the series, but sometimes characters make more decisions than I do, and one is just begging for a story of his own. So I may very well be working on the fifth book of the series very soon!

At the end of May, I have a book called “Plunder by Knight” releasing and it was SO much fun to research and write. I am truly hoping everyone will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. It will be available for presale at the end of April 2018 and is a part of the Pirates of Britannia Series. Each book in the series is written by other fabulous authors and I am just so honored to be a part of the adventure!

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Dedicate a certain time every day to just writing. I like to stick to a routine. Make realistic goals and do your best to achieve them. Stay on task and block out distractions. Even if you are stuck… keep writing. Sometimes the story will take an unexpected turn or a character will do something you did not want him to do, but that is the fun of it! That is when you know you are truly allowing the story to guide you, not vice versa. Sometimes I am in awe of the wonderful outcome of a story and how it had not even crossed my mind until the idea flew from my fingers… I am guided by the moment and the character’s personality.

My days vary and though I am mostly a full-time writer, I still have young children and side jobs. But most days, I take the kids to school, exercise for 30 minutes, make my protein shake, then I sit down and write until I hit my word goal, and if the ideas keep coming, I keep going. Some days I get stuck and when I do, I walk away for a few minutes and think about where I want it to go, or what I would do if I was that character int hat position, work on other projects, or seek out my readers on social media and ask them for input. I find my readers to be a huge inspiration. They are the perfect people to talk to when you are in a funk and are experts and talking you out of it! I LOVE MY READERS! There are no bad days when I have them to chat with!

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
Katherine by Anya Seton. It's about the love affair between John of Gaunt and his mistress Katherine Swynford. Their story is compelling and honestly so important to the lines of royalty all over Europe, as well as the begins of the Wars of the Roses. I have read this book many times and never stop feeling profoundly affected by it! I have let my friends borrow it and recommended it for years.

So who wants to win something?!

Mia Pride and I have partnered up to give away a couple items - one lucky Giveaway Guy reader will win a paperback of The Warrior's Wager and another reader will win a $30 Amazon gift card.

Aislin Mac Cecht is not like other lassies. She prefers her bow, connecting with nature, and most importantly, her freedom. Marriage and children would only tie her down. He would never dream of trying…
Alastar Mac Murray vowed to never get married. He much prefers to spend his nights with as many lassies as possible, living a life of ease and freedom, even if his easy smile and witty banter hide the painful shadows of his past. He will have Aislin Mac Cecht, and taming her is the last thing on his mind.

One reckless wager, the kiss of a lifetime, and an opportunity to secure the lass of his dreams has Alastar proposing a handfast to Aislin. She keeps her freedom and silences her family, and he wins the girl… for only one year and one day. She vows to leave when it’s over. He vows to keep her forever.

Amazon gift card and the return of romance author Misty M. Beller

You might recognize the name of this next author since I featured her just a couple months ago!

Misty M. Beller writes romantic mountain stories, set on the 1800s frontier and woven with the truth of God’s love. She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and daughters now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.

God has placed a desire in Misty's heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God's abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters.

Writing is a dream come true for Misty. Her family, both immediate and extended, is the foundation that holds her secure in that dream.

She has just released the second book in the bestselling Heart of the Mountains series, called This Wilderness Journey.

Joseph Malcom has spent his life protecting those in need, but now that his sister is safely settled with her new family in the Canadian Rockies, his help is no longer required. That is, until he’s asked to safely retrieve the priest’s cousin to help minister to the local Indian tribe. But his passenger is not at all who he expects.

After the death of her mother, Monti Bergeron has nothing to keep her in Montreal. While the prospect of ministering to the Indians out West is daunting, she looks forward to assisting her beloved cousin in his mission work. The life of a nun may be just what she needs to heal her grief, serving her Heavenly Father and fellow mankind, especially if no more pesky suitors are around to ask for her hand in marriage. But the man who’s been sent to guide her through the mountains might make her second-guess her plans before she even begins.

As Monti settles into her ministry, Joseph finds his wandering feet drawn back to the Indian camp. Monti’s focus on God is more unsettling than he’d like to admit. Add to that her beauty which tests his willpower at every turn, and she’s made it crystal clear she doesn’t want a husband. But when his determination to keep distance between them puts Monti in danger, protecting her might require something Joseph might not be able to give.

Still curious about the author? Here are a few questions about books from the last feature with Misty...

What inspires you to write?
Ooh, that’s a great question! I’d have to say a good story inspires me. Most of my books are set in the Rocky Mountains during the 1800s, and I love those remote frontier settings. A great story in that setting inspires me!

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Get connected in a good national writing group. I’m part of American Christian Fiction Writers, and there are lots of groups out there for almost any genre. These groups provide excellent opportunities to learn the craft of writing, marketing, and networking. I wouldn’t have lasted long as a writer without ACFW!

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
Hmm…That’s a tough one! Fiction can be so subjective, depending on a person’s tastes. There are some great non-fiction books, too! If I had to pick just one, I’d say the Bible.

So who wants to win something?!

Amazon gift card and children's author Laurisa Reyes

This next author juggles many responsibilities as a novelist, wife, and mother of five.

Laurisa Reyes is the former Editor-in-Chief of Middle Shelf Magazine and former editor for Maple Tree Press and Xchyler Publishing. She is currently the Senior Editor of Skyrocket Press and teaches English composition at College of the Canyons in So. California.

Prior to becoming an editor and novelist, Laurisa wrote for The Signal Newspaper, Antelope Valley Press, The Link Homeschool Newspaper, and Santa Clarita Valley Magazine.

Laurisa has a new children's book, Mickey Malloy, Wonder Boy! A funny chapter book for ages 6-10, fans of Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid should check this out.

Mickey Malloy is just your average kid who loves comic books and superheroes. When a mysterious package arrives with his name on it, he finds a strange contraption inside.

Urged on by his friend, Juanita, Mickey pushes the thing’s button and gets ZZZZZZAPPED!

Suddenly, he isn't a normal kid anymore, he’s Mickey Malloy, Wonder Boy! The human magnet!

But what seems like an awesome superpower gets Mickey into more trouble than he could possibly imagine.

Still curious about the author? Time for a Q&A about books with Laurisa...

What inspires you to write?
My kids, mostly. Every book I've written has either been inspired by or written for my kids. For example, when my son (who is now 21) was 8, I told him bedtime stories about a young enchanter's apprentice who goes on a quest and fights dragons. Eventually, those stories became The Rock of Ivanore, my first published novel.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
First draft, about 5-6 months. But that's when the work really begins. Takes me years to revise and edit. I'm working on a book right now that I wrote seven years ago. I hope it might be ready for publication by 2019. Most of my books have taken between 3-7 years to "finish". Luckily, I'm always working on several projects at once, so I've been able to publish twelve books in six years.

What are you working on right now?
Two books, actually. The one I mentioned above is a young adult contemporary novel called Memorable that tackles some tough issues, like mental illness, divorce, and suicide. It's received a couple of awards so far, so I've got high expectations for it. The other is the second set of books in my The Crystal Keeper fantasy series. I'm hoping those will be ready to go this summer.

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Many writers have come to me complaining that they can't finish anything. That's because they edit as they go. Bad idea. The first draft is meant to be bad. So, my advice is don't reread what you've already written. Resist the temptation to edit or fix stuff from the day before. Keep writing until you get to the end. Only then should you go back and rewrite.

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
My very favorite book in the whole world is Lilies of the Field by William E. Barrett. I've lost count how many times I've read it. It's really short, just 124 pages, and it is such an inspiring "feel good" story. I've given lots of copies to friends. Read it. You won't regret it.

IBS Awareness Month & Larabar giveaway

Larabars are gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, soy-free, and dairy-free. They're pretty good despite the lack of all those things.

I have IBS, and dairy is one of my biggest triggers, so there aren't a lot of snacks that are tasty and fun to grab on the go. However... Larabar has 22 Larabar flavors, which is a pretty big collection if you ask me. Chances are they've got a flavor you'd like.

That tweet above is from last year, but I like the image so I'm keeping it for the post.

April is IBS Awareness Month and the syndrome kind of flies under the radar and is often misunderstood. If you have IBS like me, comment below if you're comfortable doing so.

What is IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)? It's a common disorder that affects the large intestine (colon). IBS commonly causes diarrhea, constipation, and a lot of abdominal discomfort that I won't sicken you with.

Not the greatest segue, but back to Larabar. My favorite flavor is blueberry muffin. It's real fruity, rich, and tastes great. You've got blueberries, cashews, dates, lemon, and vanilla.

Four flavors of Larabar
Mmm, which one to eat first?

Larabars are great for on the go and at the office when I need a pick-me-up. The good thing is that they don't bother my IBS.

So who wants to win some grub?! Up for grabs is box of 16 bars (any flavor) for one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Win a $50 Amazon gift card with Samie Sands - Not Dead Yet!

Who will survive when it's the end of the world?

Samie Sands is a freelance graphic designer who followed her lifelong dream and uses her creativity in a new way by writing. With a degree in Media Studies and PR, Samie has already had articles published in a number of e-zines, including one of the most popular pieces at Zombie Guide Magazine.

She lives in a small seaside town in the UK, but loves to travel to gain inspiration from new places and different cultures.

Author Samie Sands has a four-part zombie series called AM13 Outbreak, which you probably know by now if you've seen our previous features.

The third book called Not Dead Yet, shown above, kicks zombie butt as good as the other books in the series. With so many twists and turns in this concluding book, the zombies will be spinning like tops.

All four books in the zombie book series are available now, and you can get them free on Kindle today!

The AM13 Outbreak has affected everywhere, the entire world has experienced infection.

Victims of the virus are no longer human, they've changed, become something scientifically impossible. With their loss of human function and their new lust for flesh, there’s only one word to describe them...

Zombies.

The world is divided as everyone tries to work out how to survive. Many have already lost their lives in the fight, but there are still a few who are not dead...

Yet!

Still curious about the author? Time for an interview with Samie...

What inspired you to write Not Dead Yet?
Not Dead Yet is the fourth book in the AM13 Outbreak series so I wanted to do something else with it. The first three books mostly center around the UK, so for this one I wanted to explore the rest of the world. Not every country is handling the virus in the same way, so even might’ve escaped it entirely! The book introduces all sorts of characters, some of whom are based on real people. I ran a competition for people to be featured, so maybe readers will even know someone in the pages.

What are some of the challenges you face when writing?
I think like most writers, it’s having the time to write and the right inspiration at the same time! The two very rarely seem to meet which can get frustrating!

How do you market your books?
I always find giving a little sample of the book is good, it gives people a little glimpse of what’s to come. Picking one for Not Dead Yet was hard because there are so many varied characters in so many weird and wacky situations. I also had movie scripts, diary entries, letters, and many more to choose from. But I decided to go for Luke Yates, a middle-aged man from Australia, who’s struggling with the loneliness brought on by the zombie apocalypse:

PERTH

“Aw hell,” I mutter angrily to myself as another undead pus-bag takes a swing at me. What sort of hellish nightmare is this, and more importantly why hasn’t it come to an end yet? One might assume that an island, such as Australia, might be able to escape a virus such as this, but clearly not. One might also assume that with such a large expanse of the place being scarcely populated, there’d be somewhere to get away.

Clearly, that assumption is an incorrect one. I’ve been everywhere I can think of to get away, and they seem to keep on following me. Or maybe they’re just everywhere, like horse flies, or something equally as annoying. I’ve been in the city, and out of it, and actually, it’s better to be in. At least there’s stuff to eat that I don’t need to kill first!

I smash my lead piping through the dead guy’s head, cold blood splattering all over my face as I do. I hate this part, the cleaning up after a kill, mostly because the lenses on my glasses are starting to have bits of grime, coagulated blood, and very dead flesh caked right into them, and there isn’t anything I can do about that. I can’t exactly head to the nearest opticians for a replacement now, can I? I tried, but my usual place was utterly destroyed, presumably collateral damage in the initial outbreak, so that’s the end of that.

“Idiot,” I shake my head at the dead guy lying at my feet, wondering how he managed to get himself infected. If I’ve been smart enough to keep myself alive, then I didn’t see why everyone else shouldn’t too. There wasn’t anything particularly special about me. Sure I was a ‘jack of all trades’ in life, which made had helped me a little, and I was a massive reader too which means I know a lot, but still. I think common sense is key.

Maybe Australia doesn’t have much of it after all. I don’t really know where I’m going to go next, I’m getting thoroughly sick of wandering around, trying to find somewhere safe to stay, just for something to happen which forces me to move on. It’s exhausting, and somewhere along the line, everything started to feel a little...pointless. I guess what I really want to do is go to another country, to get away from here. I suppose if I consider it rationally, judging by the fact that no one has come to rescue Australia, this isn’t the only place in the world that’s been affected, but surely there must be somewhere safe? There must be somewhere on the planet that I can go? I can’t keep on doing this forever.

I slump down on a tree stump, blinking my eyes into the intense bright sunshine, wondering what direction I force my weary body in next. The sun rays are sizzling my skin too ferociously to continue worrying about monsters coming at me from every angle, my stomach’s growling too loudly and my parched throat screams are too loud to keep going aimlessly, I feel too weary for all of it now. The whole apocalyptic nightmare is a young man’s game, not for someone like me who just wants to curl up in the evenings with a good book. I would love to find a way to just stop the fighting... “Help!”

Other than writing, what are you working on these days?
I’m pretty much just writing. When I’m not writing books, I’m publishing articles, reviews, and other content. I don’t ever seem to be away from my laptop!

You meet a stranger in an elevator who asks about the copy of Not Dead Yet sticking out of your bag. What's your 30-second pitch to encourage them to read it?
I don’t stick to the usual characters, the one’s who have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse, I feature and give a voice to everyone else, the one’s readers can relate to. As you can see from the title, not all of these characters are dead…yet!

So who wants to win something?!

Redemption at Shadow Lake is the latest book from J.E., released just last week. You can get it free on Kindle Unlimited!

Samantha Dunning needs a change of scenery after a lengthy relationship that ends in a bad breakup. Can a big city girl find peace and happiness in the small town of Shadow Lake as a real estate broker?

Just when Samantha begins to enjoy her new surroundings, she meets Calvin Benham, a handsome and charismatic investment broker planning on building a resort in Shadow Lake. But does he have a hidden agenda?

Will the hidden secrets of the McClure Mansion destroy any chance for a relationship between Samantha and Jonathan or has God brought them together? What will the secrets of the historical McClure Mansion reveal?

Still curious about the author? Time for an interview with J.E...

What inspired you to write Redemption at Shadow Lake?
I wanted to weave a story using my background as a real estate agent, so I coupled it with some historical information on a mansion here in Missouri but the names were changed. Out of my research the McClure Mansion came to life.

My story had to have a spiritual side to it, so I created a couple of main characters, Samantha & Jonathan who would find the answers to their conflicts through their relationship with God.

What are some of the challenges you face when writing?
The main challenge is having too many ideas and not knowing which one to work on first. I pray and God usually leads me where I need to go. Also, some of my characters seem to head me in directions other than what I had intended, but it usually turns out for the best.

How do you market your books?
I use both paid and free book sites to market. I also use social media (Facebook groups, Twitter, Google +, Pinterest, and Linkedin.

Other than writing, what are you working on these days?
I’m getting ready to take a 10-day vacation to Colorado and use the opportunity to get back to my photography. I love taking landscape photos and Colorado provides me with lots of interesting subjects.

You meet a stranger in an elevator who asks about the copy of Redemption at Shadow Lake sticking out of your bag. What's your 30-second pitch to encourage them to read it?
It’s my new release filled with a murder mystery, suspense, romance and a surprise historical twist. It’s a fast paced read that will keep you guessing till the end.

So who wants the chance to win a prize?

$50 Amazon gift card and the return of fantasy author Diana Anderson-Tyler

One power. One prophecy. One chance to change the world.

If your writing journey (like that of Diana Anderson-Tyler) has proved much more than a transient phase, then you've likely discovered that pursuing your passion as an adult is no longer like playing in a sandbox.

Welcome back to the blog, Diana!

Gone are the care-free, easy-going days of simply devising clever stories or thinking up unique characters and hastily following after them with your pen. Diana's writing has made the beautiful transition from hobby to profession, from curiosity to obsession, from amusement to craft, from passion to purpose.

Diana has come to believe that writers are also warriors. Many giants must be slayed as we strive to share our stories with the world. Many invaders must be routed as we defend the work whose characters, settings, conflicts, and themes keep us up at night.

Filled with magic, mystery, and sprinklings of Greek mythology, Age of the Ashers is a powerful fantasy adventure for those who love to lose themselves in the world of make-believe.

Petros is a well-oiled machine of an empire that has been overrun by evil. Every individual’s life is mapped out precisely, from the day of their birth until their much-anticipated Coronation at age seventy-five, when they each become ruler of their own personal paradise.

Eighteen-year-old Chloe Zacharias is content to exist as a social outcast and virtual recluse. Orphaned at the age of eight, she and her twin brother Damian live with their aunt and uncle, who only just tolerate their unwelcome charges. When classmate Ethan Ross gives Chloe a one-day pass to a newly opened museum, she discovers there’s much more to her utopian city, and the mysterious government that runs it, than she could ever have imagined.

When it becomes clear to the powers of the Underworld that Chloe could uncover their secrets and dismantle their world, the rulers send cunning Hermes, devious messenger to the lords of Hades, on a mission to destroy her before she finds out who—and what—she is.

Famed poet and romantic musician, Orpheus will do anything to reunite with his beloved wife Eurydice. Manipulated by Hermes into believing he can win back Eurydice if he charms a mortal known as “the Vessel,” Orpheus takes advantage of Chloe’s naïveté and voracious curiosity, and leads her into mortal danger.

Damian can’t ignore his sister or her strange behavior any longer. He has discovered that he has an astonishing gift of his own, and Hades and Apollo are shaken by the possibility that there is not one, but possibly two, entities with the power to topple the evil world they have created.

Chloe and Damian must work together, without becoming paralyzed by fear like their ancestors before them, or the citizens of Petros will continue to believe and be ruled by the horrific lies that have corrupted their world.

Still curious about the author? Time for an interview with Diana...

What inspired you to write Age of the Ashers?
I’d written a stand-alone novel, Moonbow, and thought it would be fun to continue the story... thousands of years in the future. The Petros Chronicles’s heroine (Age of the Ashers is book 1 in the series) is a descendant of Moonbow’s protagonist.

What are some of the challenges you face when writing?
Ordinarily I don’t have a hard time with writer’s block or feeling unmotivated. My challenges generally revolve around impostor’s syndrome. I’ll look at other authors’ success, wonder why I don’t have as many reviews or sales or what have you, and wonder if it the reason is that I simply don’t have what it takes.

I constantly have to remind myself that achieving success as a writer (and arguably as anything) is a marathon, not a sprint. If I continue to hone my craft, publish the best books I’m capable of producing, and incrementally improve my marketing game, I’ll achieve my professional goals. Patience, confidence, and perseverance are key.

How do you market your books?
I don’t enjoy the marketing side at all, so there’s ample room for improvement in this department! At the moment, I have a newsletter signup form on my website, use Instafreebie to give away sample chapters, send out monthly newsletters which feature original stories and giveaways, connect with readers and fellow authors via social media, and use services like Freebooksy and Bargainbooksy whenever I’m running promotions. My husband has also been helping me with Amazon ads. Once we have a decent handle on those, we’ll likely try navigating the Facebook waters.

Other than writing, what are you working on these days?
Does editing count? ;-)

Writing is my number one passion, so that’s what I spend the majority of my time working on. I do work on my body; working out is super important to me, for both physical- and mental-health reasons. I find that exercise drastically reduces any stress and anxiety I might be feeling while boosting energy and creativity. You seriously can’t beat it!

You meet a stranger in an elevator who asks about the copy of Age of the Ashers sticking out of your bag. What's your 30-second pitch to encourage them to read it?
Chloe is a regular teenage girl, but when she turns eighteen, she discovers she has a superpower that automatically makes her an enemy of her world’s mysterious government, the Phantasmata. Naively following her curiosity, she learns that the Phantasmata is ruled by wicked primordial gods intent on suppressing the truth – and any outsider who knows it.

Chloe can either play dumb, refuse to use her power, and thereby save her skin, or she can risk her life to expose the monsters, both mortal and immortal, who are keeping the world in darkness.

$40 Amazon gift card and adventure author J.W. Zulauf

This next author will give you a story that's clean, adventuresome, and has a good ending...

J.W. Zulauf is an author of fiction, horror, fantasy, literary fiction, children’s literature, and poetry. He is the author of the chapter book series, The Balderdash Saga and Kingdom in Chains. His writing style is clean and concise but often found with dark undertones.

J.W. has received numerous awards, including the Marjorie Flack Award for Fiction. His novel The Underground Princess (The Balderdash Saga, Book 1) received the Awesome Indies Approved badge, the Reader’s Favorite Finalist badge, and the Reader’s Favorite Five Star badge.

J.W. Zulauf took to horror right from the start of his writing career, penning short stories laced with the macabre tones of King, Stine, and Burton. If you don't know those three authors, I suggest you educate yourself.

J.W.'s style changed as he met teachers who helped push him in different directions. After writing about 10 unpublished stories, he found one teacher in particular who pushed him toward literary fiction and poetry.

Most recently, J.W. has finished his novel, Kingdom in Chains. This story is an Adventure/Fantasy (think Robin Hood meets Game of Thrones), and it’s intended for the older YA crowd through adult (ages 14+). Originally, this story was called Quest but changed as the story developed.

Fear, violence, slavery--throughout his adult life, Barloc has known no other way.

A quarter of a century has passed since King Sclavus decreed slavery legal in the Kingdom of Kuldaire, certain it was the only way to keep the economy strong. He created alliances with the wealthy ruling class, and cast the common folk into chains.

A handful of rebellions rose, but fell almost as quickly as they began, and the concepts of freedom and peace became dusty relics of the past, a nearly forgotten dream.

When Barloc is sold to Lord Harbor, his new owner offers queer promises of freedom, promises only King Sclavus can honor after a thirty-day trial. Barloc, as someone who has lost everything, or who never had anything of his own to begin with, is forced to question everything around him as he embarks on this new trial.

Whom can he trust? Why has he been selected and thrown into this strange new setting? What happened to just being a slave? How can life be any different from the only way he's ever known? What is freedom, and at what cost?

This is Barloc's chance--perhaps his last chance--to once and for all cast off the chains that bind him. And maybe, just maybe, he can bring others to freedom with him.

Dry off your pets with Luv & Emma's Dry Pets Towel [giveaway]

If you're a dog owner you've probably needed something to dry off or wipe down your furry friend.

The snow has melted away and it's muddy on the trails, so Henry's paws usually get pretty dirty. There's always a chance he digs to the center of the earth too, which makes me groan.

So forget using paper towels and family bath towels because Luv & Emma's has a cool towel for your pet!

Wipe those dirty paws off, Henry

The Dry Pets towel was created with practicality and convenience in mind, and you'll wonder how you ever lived without one. You and your pet will feel the softness and quality of this wonderful microfiber pet towel.

With the towel's attractive design and amazing ability to quickly absorb water, you'll be free from unnecessary paper waste and using your own towels. Plus I guess it's kinda fun to have hanging around for the dog.

Hangs on door handles

Imagine how nice it would be to have Luv & Emma's towel ready for you and your pet where you need it most. Like right at the door at arm's reach.

With its patented stretchable opening, the Dry Pets towel allows you to conveniently hang it from door knobs and wherever there's a hook of some kind.

Henry drying off from the rain

We hang our towel on the backside of the porch door (the side facing indoors). As soon as Henry comes inside I can grab the towel first, and then wipe down his paws and whatnot before he's able to track stuff on the floor.

I've found the towel is pretty absorbent and washes easily. Vizslas love to surround themselves with blankets and crawl inside things, so Henry doesn't put up a fight when I throw the towel around him. Even as a dog that loves to mess around, he doesn't bite or tug at the towel. Look how good he's being in my pictures.

Want a towel for the pet in your life?! Luv & Emma's is graciously offering a pet towel to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.
