Lonely Mountains: Downhill on Nintendo Switch [review]

I play my Nintendo Switch nearly every night, and this game I'm about to talk about is now one of my favorites.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill is a low-poly style mountain biking game, released on PC (Win/Mac/Linux), Xbox One, and Playstation 4 back in October of last year.

Then, much to my delight, the team brought the game to Nintendo Switch a few weeks ago (May 7th) and I've been playing ever since! This is one of those games that's great for playing in spurts or sitting down for hours and cranking through challenges.

In this delightful game, it's just you and your bike riding down the rocky peaks of the Lonely Mountains. No music, no distractions - simply the peaceful sounds of the wilderness and the crunch of gravel under your tires.

Getting Down the Mountain

The physics of Lonely Mountains: Downhill enables fast and responsive controls. You'll drop from boulder to boulder, jump over abysses, and slide through muddy grounds. It's played in third person, and navigating the bike may take time to get used to as the rider can be facing any direction.

There are several different mountains that await you - some of which must be unlocked, and each with multiple trails. You can take your bike to a quiet mountain lake, a majestic forest, a canyon, and other scenery. Don't get too mesmerized by the beauty of your surroundings, though, because you'll quickly learn that if you bump into a tree or boulder, you're toast!

Exploring

As you bike your way down the mountain, you can play it safe and take a relaxing ride on the scenic route... or take some risks by picking up speed or and going cross-country off the beaten path. If you find a hidden resting place, get off the bike and chill.

Simulating the nature in this game is done in such a simple, yet beautiful way. While I don't know much about low poly style, I know that I'm going to look for more games done this way.

Leaderboard & Stats

There are a few difficulty modes that will challenge you, and some of these I have yet to beat. Most involve going from checkpoint to checkpoint with as few crashes as possible, getting to the finish line under a certain time, or completing the free ride mode without a crash. Check the online leaderboard and motivate yourself by comparing your times to those of other riders around the world.

As you complete challenges, you'll be rewarded with options to change gender and appearance (or skins, as many gamers say). You can unlock new bikes, paint jobs, and outfits for your rider. As you can probably guess, some bikes have better characteristics than others to help in your performance.

Sadly, there's no mode for competing in a race with other players (co-op or online), which is the only downside for me. I'd love to race down the mountain with someone.

Watch the Release Trailer

Want to get a taste of the action? Check out the Lonely Mountains: Downhill release trailer below.

At the time this video came out, the game was coming PC, Xbox One, and PS4... but it's on Nintendo Switch now too of course!

PharmaCBD: An alternative approach to wellness [review]

I suffer from IBS, so stomach problems and being in the bathroom are unfortunately a regular part of my life. I've tried all kinds of over the counter medicine, prescription drugs, eating more soluble fiber - everything.

Nothing has ever really worked, but you know what has? Cannabis and all the ways to consume it. Sure, it's considered taboo to many people, but there are plenty of folks out there who rely on it to feel better.

PharmaCBD

Instagram is a treasure trove of brands in the cannabis/CBD industry that are looking to be discovered and offer their solutions to help people like me.

I recently stumbled upon PharmaCBD, which is a hemp and CBD distributor that focuses on providing quality and innovative products - ones that taste great and offer an alternative approach to wellness!

For me, what I'm most interested in is CBG, or cannabigerol, which is known to help with the gut. I don't believe there are many studies out there to support the effects, but there are plenty of other benefits the compound has.

What is CBG?

CBG is one of many compounds that are naturally in the cannabis plant. Ever heard of CBD and THC? These compounds are present too.

The effects of CBG are still being explored, but studies have shown that CBG may be helpful for:

  • Anxiety relief
  • Increasing appetite
  • Mood regulation
  • Reducing pain and inflammation

How PharmaCBD Helps Me

If you didn't know already, CBD and CBG don't get you high. There are no psychoactive effects when consuming these, so think of them as a supplement of sorts.

I can't say for sure just yet if CBG is a "cure" for my IBS problems, and I'm still experimenting with dosage. Some people may only need a smaller dose, but taller/bigger folks may need a lot more.

Either way, I feel calm when using PharmaCBD's CBG tincture, and it puts me in a good space mentally. You simply use the dropper and drop the oil under your tongue. My wife even told me the other day, "You seem in a way better mood today, what happened?" And when I'm calm, that means I'm not as stressed, which means my IBS is kept at bay. Stress is often a trigger, and that's bad news bears.

Watch A CBG Video

If you're still curious about CBG and want to learn a bit more, check out this short video I found on YouTube that explains it succinctly:

Reach your wellness goals with AliceCBD [review]

Nothing has ever really worked to subdue my IBS, but you know what has? Cannabis and all the ways to consume it.

Sure, it's considered taboo to many people, but there are plenty of folks out there who rely on it to feel better.

AliceCBD

Instagram is a treasure trove of brands in the cannabis/CBD industry that are looking to be discovered and offer their solutions to help people like me.

I recently stumbled upon AliceCBD, which strives to provide customers with knowledge, enthusiasm, and support to help you reach your wellness goals!

For me, what I'm most interested in is CBG, or cannabigerol, which is known to help with the gut. I don't believe there are many studies out there to support the effects, but there are plenty of other benefits the compound has.

What is CBG?

CBG occurs in lower concentrations than THC and CBD and differs from these compounds in several ways. Unlike THC, CBG has no psychoactive properties, and therefore will not get you high. It exists in some varieties of industrial hemp as well as other, more potent, marijuana strains.

Despite people often overlooking CBG in favor of THC and CBD, it seems that it could also be potentially beneficial. CBG research is still in its infancy, but studies have shown that it may be helpful for:

  • Anxiety relief
  • Increasing appetite
  • Mood regulation
  • Reducing pain and inflammation

Return your body to its natural state of health with CBG [review]

Cannabis is considered taboo to many people, but there are plenty of folks out there who rely on it to feel better - like me!

Nothing has ever really worked to subdue my IBS, but you know what has? Cannabis and all the ways to consume it.

Green Gods Grow

Instagram is a treasure trove of brands in the cannabis/CBD industry that are looking to be discovered and offer their solutions to help people like me.

I recently stumbled upon Green Gods Grow, a health and wellness company that produces all-natural and reliable CBD formulas. They believe that the human body can return to its natural state of health with the use of effective and high quality hemp, cannabis, and CBD products.

For me, what I'm most interested in is CBG, or cannabigerol, which is known to help with the gut. I don't believe there are many studies out there to support the effects, but there are plenty of other benefits the compound has.

What is CBG?

One of the overlooked cannabinoids is the one responsible for all the rest: CBG, the mother all cannabinoids. CBG is the cannabinoid with properties that counteract the paranoia/anxiety that THC tends to generate.

CBG research is still in its infancy, but uses include:

  • Anxiety relief
  • Pain relief
  • Steady energy
  • Focus
  • Sleep
  • Paranoia relief

How Green Gods Grow Helps Me

Stand out from the crowd in Niceknotts socks [review]

Who else is in need of a pick-me-up in isolation? This past week has been pretty depressing with crappy weather, so a weekend of sun, green grass, and some new socks are hitting the spot.

What do you think of these two designs from Niceknotts? Pretty cool combo if you ask me.

The goal for the folks at Niceknotts is to address issues that we have with socks. Their sock collection is priced to be budget friendly, and they work hard to offer a selection that stands out from crowd. Be sure to visit their website now and then to see what's new!

Check out the island sunrise socks and add some fun to your outfit. These tropical socks are perfect for when you have to maintain being a professional but still have that burning desire to be fun! With a majority of 80% cotton, these socks are super soft and comfy. And if you're feeling patriotic, check out the patriot socks for some American flair.

If you like classic argyle, you're in luck, because Niceknotts has four different colors - red, navy, purple, and charcoal. I like the red design since it adds some pop to my otherwise boring dress pants.

Finally, Niceknotts is an online retailer, which means no mall traffic, searching endlessly for parking, or dealing with obnoxious customers who might take your desired pair of socks before you can get to them. Their website is safe and secure, and shipping is free!

Receive a FREE pair of socks when you spend $25 or more using promo code "GIVEAWAY"

Spring is here and we're starting to see color outside again! Nothing has made me happier this past week than sunlight, green grass and trees, and some new, bright socks.

Check out the green thumb socks that'll go with any outfit, and the giraffe socks to complete your giraffe collection (if you have one like my sister does).

Tucano: Travel packs and carry-on bags with a name inspired by a bird [review]

Due to this once-in-a-lifetime crisis, the traveling industry has come to a screeching halt.

Despite this, we can still practice safe adventures by social distancing - a day hike, for example, is what my family enjoys doing. We bring backpacks and I'm always looking for travel products that make my life easier.

Enter Tucano.

Franco Luini kicked off an adventure in Brazil, starting a tropical fruit export business and became fascinated with toucans. Yep, the colorful birds with large beaks. From this came the name and logo for his next business venture - “tucano” is Italian for toucan.

The use of original design solutions is a philosophy that pushes Tucano beyond mere aesthetics. The first step is researching to determine the best functionality without compromising desirability.

Tucano retains its identity thanks to new tricks and techniques: from the logical arrangement of the pockets and spaces, to the impact-resistance systems to protect the computer.

Furthermore, the Tucano style team develops new ways to wear their products: bags that become backpacks, backpacks that become trolleys, and shoulder bags that become handbags.

I invite you to check out a Tucano travel backpack called the Tugo, a bag designed to fit the maximum size of carry-on luggage allowed by airlines.

The Tugo has two convenient front pockets that are ideal for storing travel accessories, and a padded compartment on the backside to protect a laptop up to 15.6 inches. It's quite easy to pull the laptop out, which makes airport security checks a bit faster.

The main compartment is perfect for storing everything you need for a weekend trip or a day hike. As you can see in the image above with my cat, the main compartment opens up like a piece of luggage. You can then wear the Tugo like a backpack or carry it like a briefcase (note the big handle on the side in the below image).

I'm a fan of this pack and I intend to use it a lot more. Once it's safe to return to the office, I'll pack a change of clothes in the Tugo for when I hit the gym before or after work. I can tuck my laptop in there too, rather than using a messenger bag that puts all the weight on just one shoulder.

So, whether you need to bring stuff on a day trip, to work, or to the airport as a carry-on, consider a Tucano bag.
