$20 Amazon gift card and coauthors Jessica Haight and Stephanie Robinson

This is a first for me - a pair of award-winning coauthors featured on the blog. Twice the talent and twice the personality.

Jessica Haight and Stephanie Robinson were award-winning finalists in the 2011 International Book Awards in the Children’s Fiction category and placed 13th in the Children’s Fiction category for the 80th annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition.

Jessica grew up in New England (like me!). She has a deep love of the ocean and a personal desire to experience the four seasons every year. I'm with her - a change in weather and scenery is a good thing.

Stephanie lives with her husband in a quiet town, though not as quaint as Ashpot. She has been a fifth grade teacher for 10+ years and learns something new everyday. I try to do the same thing, even if it's something that may not be that important.

One of their coauthored books is Fairday Morrow and the Talking Library. 11-year-old Fairday Morrow had no clue that moving from Manhattan to the small town of Ashpot, Connecticut, would lead to an unsolved mystery. Watch the book trailer:

Fairday Morrow had no clue that moving from Manhattan to the small town of Ashpot, Connecticut, would lead to an unsolved mystery.

Her parents’ dream of renovating a crumbling Victorian, called the Begonia House, into a bed and breakfast had seemed like treachery at the time.

But Fairday found out that her new house kept secrets, and once inside its twisted front gates, anything was possible.

When mysterious notes start showing up warning that a librarian is in trouble and a bookworm is eating words, Fairday thinks the Begonia House has more skeletons in its closets.

What happens to stories when their words get eaten?

Still curious about the authors and Fairday Morrow and the Talking Library? Time for an interview...

What inspires you to write?
Jess: I love stories. Ideas for plots and characters are all around, in every moment. Thinking about scenes from different perspectives sets my imagination free. Linking ideas and working with words is fun!

Stephanie: I always have stories floating around in my mind. It is so much fun to dive deeper into them and bring them to life. Talking about plots and characters with Jess gets me excited to write and create worlds where anything’s possible.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
Jess & Stephanie: To flesh out the story and get it on the pages is about 8-12 months. The editing process will add on about 4 months, so a year to a year and a half would be a good estimate for us to complete a book.

What are you working on right now?
Jess & Stephanie: We have just released book 2 in the Fairday Morrow series, Fairday Morrow and the Talking Library. The next case in the DMS files is in progress!

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Jess: Be yourself. It’s important to love what you’re doing and continue to work because you enjoy the process. If you take your projects seriously and make time for them to flourish, you’ll feel your own sense of validation. It’s important to protect creative time and space and keep up the practice- there is no failure or wrong or right in art, it’s all worthwhile, and your skills will develop as you continue to craft your writing.

Stephanie: Write at your own pace and use a process that works for you. It is easy to look at other writers and compare yourself to them. Some people write fast, some are like me, and the pace is a bit slower. That is okay! I appreciate that there are writers who can sit down and type thousands of words. I tend to nitpick over words and sentences. Learning to be comfortable with your process will allow you to enjoy yourself. Don’t lose sight of why you are writing and don’t worry about the rest. Creating stories is fun!

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
Jess: The Real Boy by Anne Ursu

Stephanie: A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd

Your pet can be on a shirt or canvas with Pop Your Pup [giveaway]

If you missed the last blog post with Pop Your Pup, pay attention to this one!

Pop Your Pup is changing the game when it comes to customized products. We all know that ordering things custom can have long turn-around times. But at Pop Your Pup they're constantly growing their team of artists to handle the workload to maintain a fast turn-around.

My wife's got a shirt with Henry's face on it, and you have to admit it's pretty cool.

Jennifer and Henry

It's not just for dogs though. Put your cat's face on a shirt too! All you gotta do is provide a photo or two. Let Pop Your Pup worry about the angle and the lighting of the image. They've seen it all and they do their best to make it work.

No one likes waiting, so in just one business day the artists will have your pop art ready for you to review.

And then Pop Your Pup sends back the art for you to approve. Since they guarantee everyone will love their custom art, this means you can revise as many times as you want 'til you're 100% happy. I changed the color background a couple times and it wasn't a big deal.

They won't print or ship unless you approve! I'm surprising my sister with her cat on a canvas, and here's what Lucy will look like:

Lucy the cat

There are a variety of shirt styles to choose from. Jennifer's wearing a v-neck and the sizing fits true to size. They only print on white shirts since it helps the pop art really stand out.

Again, pop art is not just for dogs - you can get any pet you like on a shirt or canvas. Check out their animal art.

Make something custom to order! Pop Your Pup has been gracious enough to offer a gift card to TWO lucky Giveaway Guy readers - one will get $100 and another will get $50.

Reach Out by Molly Beck [review]

I've been trying to improve my email communication skills, and Reach Out is just the book I needed to get my butt in gear. I reach out to people to be featured on my blog, and also to people I want to partner with in the business world.

Crafting an email that gets a reply isn't easy, but Molly offers tips that I didn't even consider. And guess what, they work. They also apply to speaking to people in person. It's really about being polite and offering something of value.

As soon as I finished the book, I sent my first cold email using what I learned. The person responded two days later saying they were interested in my proposal. Bam!

Molly's estimated response rate for cold reach outs is 20%, but as of this writing my rate is 35%. I'm beyond pleased. Even if you're a master communicator, you'll probably learn something in this book.

Why Kids Will Love Mensch on a Bench

This post is authored by lucycodex.

The Mensh on a Bench, a plush Rabbi, is a fun Jewish version of the traditional Christmas toy, Elf on a Shelf. However, it is slightly different. As while Elf on a Shelf reports back to Santa to see who has been naughty or nice, Mensch on a Bench is a new toy that is meant to teach you and your kids about the virtues of being a good person.

It is fun for kids to hold and carry around with them. If you squeeze the doll, they have many sayings that are taken from Jewish tradition and sayings. Many people have even thanked the creator of the doll with bringing the old term “Mensch” back into the vocabulary. Mensch is a Yiddish word that stands for “a person of honor and integrity.”

The sayings will make children laugh as well. Also, as kids love to learn new things, they will enjoy sitting there and learning more about the Jewish holidays and traditions. This can also help children not feel so left out, as many children wonder why they don't celebrate the popular holiday Christmas.

The doll comes with a book, portraying the story of Moshe the Mensch. Your kids will love reading the book with you, making this a new holiday tradition that they can spend with their loved ones. It will help to teach children the ideals and transitions of the Jewish tradition Hanukkah.

So, buy this wonderful and well-made doll for your child this holiday season. You may even be able to create a new tradition out of it. So snuggle up next to your loved one, and enjoy the new tradition as you read the story of Moshe the Mensch and learn about being a good person.

$50 Amazon gift card and fantasy author Lucia Ashta

Step into otherworldly fiction.

Lucia Ashta has always been a writer. She published a short story about an unusual cockatoo when she was eight years old. Wow, what was I doing at eight? Certainly not writing any books, and probably sorting my trading cards...

That story about a cockatoo was the first of many stories, poetic anthologies, and novels to follow. Lucia never stopped writing, though she went through a long phase believing she needed to be a “responsible adult” and that writing didn’t meet that standard.

It is Lucia's greatest hope that her work will make your life more magical. She wishes that we may all learn how to make our own version of the impossible possible.

Magic Awakens is the first book of six in The Witching World series. If you like stories with non-stop adventure, a new kind of magic, heroines who own their power, and intriguing sorcerers, you'll love Magic Awakens.

Clara’s parents have her life all planned out for her. It’s the 1800s and she’s a daughter of the aristocracy. Her duty is to marry the man her parents choose for her, hold her tongue, and practice needlepoint.

Clara has no intention to marry into a life of misery. But she isn’t looking for a life of magic either. Magic is dangerous. Her parents have worked hard to keep her from it.

But magic is coming for Clara, whether she likes it or not. When her powers awaken, she can choose the safe path and pretend it isn’t happening. Or she can claim her power and face all the dangers it comes with, including the dark stranger with a secret past.

And now, the moment you've been waiting for. Lucia Ashta and I have partnered up to give away a $50 Amazon gift card to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader!

$50 Amazon gift card and fantasy author Thaddeus Nowak

If you consider yourself a geek and like the outdoors, this next author is right up your alley.

Thaddeus Nowak has always been interested in fantasy and science fiction. Some of the first things he read back in junior high were fantasy novels, and these instilled in him a passion for fantasy.

As you’ll find with other people who are fond of science fiction and fantasy, Thaddeus truly considers himself a geek or geeky-nerd-dork, and it seems knowing the difference between a geek and a nerd makes one a dork.

Mother's Curse is the first book in the Heirs of Cothel series.

Tradition holds that a mother who commits a mortal sin against the gods will be cursed with a daughter born a witch. Stephenie, the youngest princess of Cothel is just such a curse.

Hostage to her mother’s will while her father and older brother fight a war two countries away, Stephenie must overcome her mother’s plots if she is to save her father, brother, and the many soldiers she trained with.

Fearful of her mother’s growing traitorous behavior, Stephenie must escape Antar Castle. But to do so, she might have to rely upon her hidden powers, risking others discovering she is a witch…a risk that would most certainly result in her death by burning.

With the help of a select group of soldiers and an unexpected ally, she just might survive.

Still curious about Mother's Curse and the author? Time for an interview with Thaddeus...

What inspires you to write?
Writing for me is just something I must do. I get unpleasant to be around if I cannot find at least some time to write or be creative.

With regard to my stories, I get inspiration from a lot of different sources. Sometimes a song or an image will spark an idea for a story. Most of the time I build the stories around a character or characters.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
When I started Mother’s Curse, I moved from being a “discovery” writer to having a more architect style of planning. As a result, I wrote Mother’s Curse in about two months. Each of the other books in the series was written in roughly the same time frame.

What are you working on right now?
I have an expansive world I created for my series and my current project involves a new set of characters set in the distant north. I am borrowing some aspects of Scottish and Norwegian history and culture for the setting and the main character has found herself living in an occupied country and she has to figure out what she wants to do about that.

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
The best advice I ever received, though it took me several years to understand it, is “write a bad novel.” At the time I heard this I thought to myself, “A bad novel, that would be such a waste of time. I want to write a masterpiece!”

The other part of the advice was that you can learn a lot from finishing a story. If you get hung up in editing and making it perfect, you will never get to that last word on the last page. Give up the internal editor for a while and just finish the piece. Then take what you learned and write the next story. First, you’ll have proven to yourself it can be done, which is a great emotional release. Second, even if you don’t realize it, your writing will have improved greatly between when you started and ended. A new project won’t have the baggage left over from when you were first experimenting with writing.

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
For me, this is a hard question as I have a lot of books that I really enjoyed. However, one that I have read more times than most is Jane Lindskold’s Through Wolf’s Eyes. The bond that Firekeeper and Blind Seer have resonated with me strongly.

So who wants to win something?! Thaddeus Nowak and I have partnered up to give away a few items - one lucky Giveaway Guy reader will win a paperback copy of Mother's Curse and another reader will win a $50 Amazon gift card.

$40 Amazon gift card and paranormal author D.R. Perry

Say hello to a fellow New Englander!

D.R. Perry writes all kinds of things. Mostly, they have strange and unusual elements. Not isotopes of Strontium, but speculative fiction; stories that ask "what if?" Creatures who are people or people who are creatures.

In 2017, A Change In Crime earned a shortlist nomination for Alternate History in the Dragon Awards, a nomination for the McGrath House Indie Author Award in the Historical Fiction category, and an Imadjinn award.

D.R. hopes you have as much fun reading her books as she did writing them.

Bearly Awake is the first of nine books in the Providence Paranormal College series. A charmed life can tumble down in an avalanche of problems.

Bobby Tremain’s the first in his family to attend college, also the first to see snow. A massive magical blizzard makes this not-so-average bear want to sleep all winter, but he needs to pass exams or risk flunking out of Providence Paranormal College.

Lynn Frampton’s got a brain of epic proportions and an even smarter mouth. She went to college on the other side of the country to escape the town where everybody knows and fears her brain. At college, Lynn's barely able to make friends, let alone influence people. At least she’s at the top of her class.

Bobby needs Lynn’s help to stay awake and pass his exam. She might just need his companionship, too. Can Lynn and Bobby find new hope together or will their failures send them both packing home?

Let this introductory novella transport you to Providence Paranormal College. Extrahumans of all types abound on this urban campus on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. This Ivy-League college recently opened its doors to anyone with enough talent. The Admissions Department at PPC enrolls humans with extraordinary grades, the magically and psychically inclined, vampires, werewolves, changelings, and even magic shifters like dragons and Kelpies. Come take a tour! If you like YA and NA Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy with strong romantic subplots, you’ll feel right at home here.

Still curious about Bearly Awake and the author? Time for an interview with D.R...

What inspires you to write?
It's this: what if? Those two little words are like a trail of breadcrumbs to me or maybe a laser pointer to a cat. I see something shiny off in the distance when those two words come around. I just have to know where they lead.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
The first draft doesn't take too long, maybe a month if it's a short novel like PPC. The longer a series gets, the longer the books take to draft and then to revise and edit. I do a lot of thread-connecting and looking back to make sure everything's tied up at the end of a series and stuff makes sense. One-offs or books in the same universe without the same overall plot arc take the least time, especially when the characters are familiar to me.

What are you working on right now?
I'm working on way too many things. There's the humorous series about a crime-fighting group of dissatisfied supernatural people, stories to go between the Providence Paranormal books when I bundle them, more Decopunk in my 1929 series, two different Game Lit projects, and a utopian science fiction about a couple of intergalactic lounge singers. Oh and I am working with my cover designer on redoing all ten of the Providence Paranormal books. I'm not busy, I have coffee!

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Just keep writing. I know it sounds a lot like what the blue fish from that movie says but it is true. The more you write the more you can think of to write later.

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
Everyone should read Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut. It's an important book and so simply written. I'll always envy Vonnegut's ability to create huge impact so directly.

Have you ever had a dream you couldn't shake?

Angel Leya focuses on creating clean young adult fiction with a touch of magic and romance, and this also happens to be what she enjoys reading. With a tendency towards writing different shades of fantasy and light science fiction, her stories are intended to transport readers into worlds of possibility and wonder.

When she isn't writing, Angel can be found daydreaming about her stories and searching for her own adventures. She hopes you enjoy her fiction as much as she enjoys writing it!

Skye's Lure is clean young adult fiction. You'll enjoy this modern sweet romance with all the charm of The Little Mermaid. And who doesn't like The Little Mermaid?

I should've let him drown.

That's what any normal Mer would have done. Of course, if I was like the rest, I wouldn't have been lurking around that party yacht, trying to catch a glimpse of the humans.

My people will kill me if they find out--literally--but I can't help going back every time he shows up.

And he's offering me everything I've ever wanted: A chance to see land.

Those stormy blue eyes don't hurt, either.

Now I have to decide. Is it worth risking everything I've ever known, everything I've ever believed, to follow my heart? How can I say yes?

But how can I possibly say no?

$50 Amazon gift card and the return of Kim Carmichael

Who doesn't want to live the fantasy?

You might remember Kim Carmichael from awhile back on my blog. She began writing when her love of happy endings inspired her to create her own.

A Southern California native, Kim's contemporary romance combines Hollywood magic with pop culture to create quirky characters set against some of most unique and colorful settings in the world.

A multi-published author, Kim is a PAN member of the Romance Writers of America, as well as some small specialty chapters. When not writing, she can usually be found slathered in sunscreen trolling Los Angeles and helping top doctors build their practices.

Kim's Fantasy is her latest release, book #2 in the Seductively Ever After series. But it's also a standalone novel with supporting characters crossing over from the first book.

A modern day retelling of the classic fairy tale Cinderella, but with a twist, you'll love Kim's contemporary romance books. Fantasy has good pace, interesting subplots, and well-written characters.

With over one hundred million asteroids in the solar system, it took only one to bring them together again.

The stars haNash Cinder lived the fantasy as lead guitarist for Spectre until his world exploded on stage ten years ago. Since then he’s lived a life in the shadows, where he’s watched his father die, did his stepmother’s bidding, and kept his spoiled stepbrothers out of trouble.

Ryane Windsome spends her days as a princess of her wealthy real estate mogul father, but when Daddy says she must marry and learn the business, she has to face responsibilities for the first time. She only wants to run away.

Nash has one safe place left, a cabin in the woods his stepmother is pressuring him to sell, and Ryane’s company is intent on buying it. They meet in a wooded wonderland where they don’t share real names. As they fall in love, they realize they must find a way for the fantasy to withstand the harsh light of reality in this contemporary retelling of Cinderella.

In celebration of Kim Carmichael's new release, she and I have partnered up to give away a $50 Amazon gift card to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader!

The world’s most comfortable, durable, waterproof gloves - Give'r [giveaway]

Year after year I settle for gloves that aren't great quality, and therefore never hold up.

Enter Give'r, inspiring the unrelenting pursuit of dreams, the confidence to take the road less traveled, and the desire to share the wonders of life.

Give'r is the creator of my favorite product of the year - the world’s most comfortable, versatile, and durable pair of waterproof, all-leather, insulated gloves.

A post shared by Seth (@stringbean65) on

I'm really happy with my Give'r 4-season gloves, designed to endure life’s challenges with easy transitions between work and play. The gloves are fairly yellow when you first get them, but over time with wear they'll start becoming darker.

Give'r's gloves are super warm and have a snug fit. They come in seven different sizes and you measure the circumference of your palm to determine which size is best for you. Here's a quick video if you're curious about sizing:

The 4-season gloves are meant to be snug at first, as the design accounts for the break-in process that happens when you wear them more and more. I really like the snug feeling, and it's not tight or restrictive by any means.

I've enjoyed wearing the gloves working in the yard, splitting wood, that kinda stuff. They're also great for wearing out and about, especially in freezing temps like we experienced hiking in Vermont (below).

A post shared by Jennifer Anne (@jj11msu) on

So who needs gloves?! The folks at Give'r have been gracious enough to offer a pair of 4-season gloves ($114 value) to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Please keep in mind you will receive the gloves in January 2018 as Give'r is currently in the throws of the holiday season.

What inspires you to write?
I love telling stories. In all honesty, I love falling in love over and over again with my characters.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
Most of my books are about 65K words, and now it takes about 6 weeks for the first draft (and that’s spending almost the entire day working.) Editing and polishing takes about 3 more weeks. Please note, that under several different pen names, I’ve published over 80 books, so it probably gets easier with time.

What are you working on right now?
I recently started a new series (well, it’s a spinoff series of my Weres and Witches series) call Hidden Realms of Silver Lake, staring Finn McKinnon—a secondary character who appeared in almost all of the Weres and Witches books. It has fierce, protective dragon shifters.

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Write everyday. The best advice I got was that you can’t fix a blank page, so give yourself permission to write crap—and then polish, polish, polish.

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
Wow. That is a really hard question. I have so many favorites. Growing up, my favorite story was A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Why that stuck with me I don’t know. I cried ugly tears with Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

So who wants to win something?! Vella Day and I have partnered up to give away a few items - one lucky Giveaway Guy reader will win a paperback copy of A Magical Shift and another reader will win a $20 Amazon gift card.

The Life Online Book Series is speculative science fiction for thinking people considering the impact of future technologies. Book #4 is next to be released! But in the meantime, start with book #1, The Motion Clue, and work your way through the series.

TO PROVIDE FOR THE COMMON DEFENSE unknown forces created The Network to manage all human activity by linking camera, sensor and satellite surveillance to online personal data. But when an undetectable drone blows up an energy plant, humans face the horror of an unprecedented investigation into the system they thought was the front line in cyber defense. Have we reached the end of our control over machines?

The Motion Clue is a future tech cyber thriller about a clash between a global cyber security team of individual experts and rogue technologists working as colleagues and adversaries in a battle to reverse engineer the most terrifying technological threat the world has ever encountered.

Care to get to go inside the author's mind? Time for an interview with Case Lane.

What inspires you to write?
I have stories in my head, I always have. And my writing is related to my own experiences and interests. What usually happens is I will start thinking of a scenario. For example, right now there is a lot of discussion about self-driving cars. What about airplanes? Could we get to the point where planes operate without pilots? That led to the premise of my next book in the Life Online series about a plane that goes off the grid. Once I have the general idea I can start writing. At that point, the inspiration is in wanting to get the story completed and out for distribution.

How long does it take you to write a book, on average?
Once I have the story decided and I know when I want to release the book, I set a deadline. When I'm actively writing to hit a deadline, I aim for 5,000 words a day. So the length of time depends on the length of the book. The Life Online books average around 115,000 words each, so about 23 days. But that said, I can edit and re-edit forever. If I do not set deadlines I will keep re-editing, not to change the basic story, but certainly to reset dialogue, or change scenes around. I cannot read my own writing without editing. So without deadlines, I would probably still be working on my first book.

What are you working on right now?
Book 4 in the Life Online series is about supersonic airplane travel and the trouble that can happen when the plane goes off 'The Network.' All of the Life Online books are about our next century world where we operate our lives, as you can tell by the title, online. We essentially no longer think as humans because everything is done for us. So within that world, each book picks a different theme and tells the cyber tech thriller version of what could happen if we let this all come to pass.

What's the best writing tip you can offer?
Keep writing. Be persistent. Keep at it. I know many people want to write a book so I recommend that you start immediately and write a few words every day until it's done. Because of technology and the ability to access a global market of readers, anyone can publish a book and find enthusiastic readers. And there's a great variety of styles and approaches that people can use. What hasn't changed is the readers' interest in good stories. So don't worry about technique or style or market size or any of that - just get the story together and finish the writing you started.

What's a book written by another author everyone should read in their lifetime?
Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is so brilliant. The narrative has stood the test of time - more than 200 years - and still applies today to circumstances of human behavior and attitudes people have to one another. And of course it can be read over and over and not lose its appeal.

So who wants to win something?! Case Lane and I have partnered up to give away a Kindle Paperwhite (worth $120) to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader. Furthermore, the Life Online series prequel, The Origin Point, can be downloaded free at all the online ebook stores.

$50 Amazon gift card & author Peter Meredith

Fun and scary, you'll be turning the pages about the undead 'til the very end.

Peter Meredith is the multi-genre author of 28 novels including The Undead World, which is a 10-book series. He has also authored The Trilogy of Void, The Hidden Lands Series, The Sacrificial Daughter, A Perfect America, and Sprite.

Having tried his hand in real estate, as an emergency room nurse, and a CEO of a national lighting company, Peter has come to find that his true addiction is in writing books.

Warning! In this first book in the series, called The Apolocalypse, there is violence. There's both zombie on human violence, and human on human violence. There are also sexual situations.

The novel is not about an ex-Navy Seal with a fallout shelter filled with canned goods. Instead, The Apolocalypse is about real people, some of whom stay alive by their wits, strength, or speed. Some are lucky and some are ruthless, making decisions based on the necessity of survival. Quite a few are downright evil.

Greed, terrorism, and simple bad luck conspire to bring mankind to its knees as a viral infection spreads out of control, reducing those infected to undead horrors that feed upon the rest.

It's a time of misery and death for most, however there are some who are lucky, some who are ruthless, and some who are just too damned tough to go down without a fight. This is their story.

So who wants to win something?! Peter Meredith and I have partnered up to give away a $50 Amazon gift card to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

$50 Amazon gift card and the conclusion of the AM13 Outbreak series

Need a bit of suspense and terror in your next book? Consider this zombie lover if you haven't discovered her on my blog already.

Samie Sands is a freelance graphic designer who followed her lifelong dream and uses her creativity in a new way by writing. With a degree in Media Studies and PR, Samie has already had articles published in a number of e-zines, including one of the most popular pieces at Zombie Guide Magazine.

She lives in a small seaside town in the UK, but loves to travel to gain inspiration from new places and different cultures.

Author Samie Sands has a three-part zombie series called AM13 Outbreak, which you probably know by now if you've seen our previous features.

The third book called Extinct, shown above, kicks zombie butt as good as the first couple books in the series. With so many twists and turns in this concluding book, the zombies will be spinning like tops!

All three books in the zombie book series are available now, and you can get them free on Kindle today!

Writing books about the horrors of the zombie apocalypse is one thing—but Georgie Blake can’t believe it has become her reality…

She never expected her fictional stories of blood, death, and the consumption of human flesh to jump off the page into the real world. She certainly didn’t think she’d survive this long if they had. As a shy novelist, she was sure she’d be one of the first to die.

Safe in the Sanctuary, Georgie holds on to hope for a cure...

But that’s not all she holds on to. The government has promised the people of the Sanctuary that they can return home. The rumours are rife that there is an antidote on the horizon. But even if not, the infected are dying out, throwing the treacherous AM13 virus to the brink of extinction. If the infection dies out, this horrible nightmare Georgie is living in will be a distant memory.

Until everything that’s right goes terribly wrong...

Soon after meeting some new friends in the Sanctuary, Georgie learns she’s going to have to face the monsters outside the walls if she wants to return to her old life. But for a scared, introverted bookworm, it may be too much to consider...

Will Georgina conquer her fears of the dead to return home, or will she be one of the countless others who have gone Extinct?

So who wants to win something?! Like our previous features, Samie Sands and I have partnered up to give away a $50 Amazon gift card to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

$50 Amazon gift card & children's author Damien Macalino

A superhero with hooves?

If you recognize the name Macalino, it might be because I've previously featured Tonya Macalino - a wife, mother, and author of futuristic thrillers and children's chapter books.

Tonya's son, Damien Macalino, is a professional builder of wacky worlds. As a member of a family of writers, Damien published his first book in third grade, WHAT IF AN ALLIGATOR ATE AN AVALANCHE, an alphabet book for kids with a sense of humor!

Wow. What was I doing in third grade? Certainly not writing any books, and probably sorting my trading cards...

Super Moo is recommended for ages 6-10

Now in fifth grade, Damien steps into even wilder territory with his first children’s graphic novel, SUPER MOO: BOOM, BOOM, SPLAT!

Where can you find him? Damien is often in the jungle of his stacks of books and graphic novels, in the wild woods exploring with his family, or on the open plains of the soccer field with his friends.

Meet Super Moo, the superhero with hooves!
Super Moo is almost bored with his awesomeness. Easily able to defeat bad guys with his Sonic Moo, greeted (mobbed) by adoring fans wherever he goes, Super Moo would really rather be reading his Ion Bear comics than taking combat advice from his sidekick Super Backack.

But when Super Moo's arch-nemesis returns badder than ever, will sheer awesomeness be enough?

Or will Super Moo be the next one to go Boom, Boom, Splat?!

Grab your horn phone and stay tuned!

So who wants to win something? Damien Macalino and I have partnered up to give away a $50 Amazon gift card to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Amazon gift card and the return of author Angela Ford!

Beware the Blended Ones...

Angela J. Ford is an imaginative and entertaining writer who creates stories of fanciful worlds that enable young adults to confidently believe in possibilities and overcome differences to be stronger together. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, not too far from my wife's stomping grounds.

Although her career has not been largely focused on creative writing and being an author, it has been an integral part of her lifestyle. Brought up as a bookworm and musician, she began writing The Four Worlds, a fantasy action, adventure series at the age of 12.

What was I doing at 12? Certainly not writing any books, and probably sorting my trading cards...

The story line of Angela's books was largely based on creative games she played with her sisters. She later re-wrote The Four Worlds series, bringing it from a child's daydream to an adventure everyone can enjoy.

The Blended Ones is the second book in her series, preceded by The Five Warriors (book 1) and followed by Eliesmore and the Green Stone (book 3). A fourth book is coming in 2018.

Inspired by fairy tales, high magic and epic fantasy, Angela knows you’ll enjoy your adventures within The Blended Ones.

Phyllis and her 17 year old twin sister, Ilieus are Blended Ones. But Ilieus suffers from visions of darkness she is unable to discern. Forsaken by their parents the two cross the country in search of the Order of the Wise for help.

Cuthan the Charmer is mischievous enough to change anyone's mind with a smile and a wink. Born into a family of treasure hunters, he s searching for the key to unlocking his dormant powers.

Pharengon the Horse Lord was born to be King. Young and inexperienced he seeks a weapon to turn the tide of the war in his favor. But when his very own army betrays him, he will have to turn to the Lost Ones for assistance.

Caught in the fate of the Eastern World the youths destinies become twisted together in a frightful quest that will change the course of time. In the midst of their whirlwind adventure, they discover love, loss, and uncover the truth about who and what is behind the chaotic, spiraling events in the Eastern World.

So who wants a book or something?! Angela Ford and I have partnered up to give away a $30 Amazon gift card to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader.

Wix Wax maple sugar candle [giveaway]

Here comes an amazing fall fragrance.

Wix Wax Candles is an Etsy shop run by Amy in Cadillac, MI. Her specialty is soy wax candles and all-natural homemade soaps.

Unless you remember the blog post from last year, you've probably never heard of Cadillac (and I hadn't either). Here's a fun fact: In 1975 the band KISS came to town and performed at the Cadillac High School gymnasium. Why a gym? They played the concert to honor the Cadillac High School football team who had compiled a record of sixteen consecutive victories.

Back to candles... Amy hand makes every soy wax candle and all-natural soap, right in her home. She uses 100% soy wax, cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and many more natural ingredients that are good for your skin and safe for your home.

Pictured above is the country home candle I had the pleasure of trying last year, surely one of Amy's great fall fragrances. You'll get the same aroma you get when walking into a log cabin with spicy citrus potpourri in the air. If there's one thing my wife's a sucker for, it's cabins.

Needless to say, my wife loves the country home scent, and in my opinion it's got a pleasant, spicy scent. It's 100% soy wax, not overpowering, and contained in a nice mason jar that you can reuse (which we did as my wife loves collecting jars).

I think the maple sugar candle is especially festive for fall, with leaves covering the ground and all. I'm ready for a stack of pancakes this cold morning, covered with maple syrup of course.

The maple sugar candle is warm, inviting, and perfect for crisp autumn nights. Cozy up with your favorite book and let the lingering sweetness wrap you in delicious warmth. Is it making you hungry? Wouldn't this candle be perfect for your home or kitchen?

With that said, who wants to win it?! Amy of Wix Wax is graciously offering a 16 oz Maple Sugar candle to one lucky Giveaway Guy reader. Please contact her with custom orders as she's happy to make quantities and colors you need.
